Hindu Gods
In Hinduism each day of the week they worship a different god. The Hindu gods are Ganesha, Shiva, Vishnu, Surya, Hanuman, Durga, Lakshmi, Brahma,Rama, Krishna, Saraswati, Indra, and Agni.
Ganesha is known as the lord of success and they worship her on Tuesdays and Thursdays by going to the temple early in the morning and offering Ganesha all types of things from fruit to sweet treats.
Shiva is the third god in the Hindu triumvirate, other than Shiva there is Brahma and Vishnu. The Hindu triumvirate is responsible for the upkeep and destruction of the world. Shiva is known as the god of destroyer and restorer and is worshipped on monday and Hindus often fast on Monday in order to please Shiva. Vishnu is the protector of the world and is worshipped on Thursdays by eating only one meal of dairy that day.
Surya is the god of the sun and is worshipped on Sunday by Hindu’s offering him all types of red gifts and presents. Hanuman is the monkey god and tuesdays are dedicated to him. Durga is the Hindu goddess known as the mother of the universe and is celebrated on friday by distributing sweets. Lakshmi is the goddess of wealth and beauty, her day of the week is friday. Brahma is the god of creation and is worshipped on most all of the days of the week because Hindu’s consider him so highly ranked.
Rama is the god of chivalry and virtue and is worshipped on many of the days of the week due to Hindu”s high respect of Rama. Krishna is known as the Supreme Being to many Hindu’s and he is worshipped on thursdays. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, creativity, and wisdom. ike the other mother goddesses she is worshipped on fridays. indra and Agni have no day of worship but Indra is the lord of heaven to Hindu’s and Agni is the fire god.
